New Winter Menu (The Lobster Shed)

Dishing up only fresh and seasonal ingredients, The PIG at Harlyn Bay's head chef Adam and his team recently said goodbye for now to their whole Lobster dishes (but not forever), and hello to some new warming Lobster dishes, winter catch and local land produce.

The Lobster Shed is, just as it sounds - a laidback yet stylish restaurant. With wooden feasting tables and more intimate terrace tables that sit side by side under their new all-year around structure, backed by the wood-fired ovens and rustic bar area.

My friends & I visited yesterday (during Storm Arwen ! ) so we knew had to be pretty hardy given the storm and setting. However, there are blankets provided, and heaters above each table. It’s generally popular with both locals, walkers and out-of-town visitors but more important now more than ever to shout about their new menu (I think a few grumbled through the summer that there wasn't enough 'variety') I mean who doesn't like Lobster and Fizz …but things have now changed and we were luck enough to sample the following feast.

Winter at The Lobster Shed (Menu)

It's still a relaxed choice of mix and match dishes with smaller plates of Potted Mackerel Pate and Padstow Crab Cakes, to bigger portions of Lobster ‘Scampi’, Foragers Mayo and Confit Duck Leg & Blackberry Sauce (a personal favourite) …not to mention some new nostalgic puds like Bread Pudding to finish off with. There’s mulled cider too (which we forgot to sample as we were knee deep into a red Rioja).

OK, so maybe I'm a little bias, but I really do recommend getting a group together and heading down for a laid-back feast of fine food & wine (the cocktails sure are worth a sip too!) pull on something warm, and get ready to devour some seriously tasty grub, complete with heaters, blankets - enjoy wild winter views of the Cornish countryside in this gem of a setting that I once called home.

The service was great, thanks Arran, Luis and gang for looking after us. We will be back very soon for more…

New dishes include a Lobster Bisque, Mackerel Pate, Braised Blade of Beef, Fish Stew, Lobster Scampi, new vegan dishes, sides to match. Come and experience the Lobster shed with a new twist. Even though we have our retractable roof and sides and the heaters on full, wrap up warm and sip the afternoon away with our mulled cider.

The current Winter dining times are Thursday to Sunday, 12noon to 5pm, with a slight change around the festive period.
