Fireplaces - Brick, Stone, Wood?

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…

pass the bottle darling.

This has been one of the most difficult decisions (and processes so far) it is not easy to have a traditional open fire in a new build property. There are so many hoops and jumps to go through. I don;t personally know much about the specifics, but if you message me I;m sure I can find out the details on what we ended up having to do to get one but for now, its all about the aesthetics!

You can;t be the atmosphere a real open fire gives - the sound of crackling popping wood, the smell, the colours…! After living in an old property, this was a real deal breaker for me. I appreciate they are not the most efficient in actually keeping a room warm, but hey thats what blankets are for too right? And we have so much insulation going into the new house, I’m pretty certain I won’t ever be cold.

Here are the current favorites… which style would you go for?
